This talk presents the results of theoretical (physical and mathematical), as well as experimental studies of the effectiveness of the modernized internal standard method for the quantitative determination of volatile components in petrochemical, pharmaceutical, and food industry products. The work contains an assessment of its main metrological parameters, examples of certified measurement techniques developed on its basis, and examples of the implementation of the method. This presentation reviews studies conducted over a 30-year period.
