Vector solitons in mode locked fiber lasers: dynamics of the polarization state

We review our recent results on polarization dynamics of vector solitons (fundamental, bound state, multipulsing) in erbium doped fiber laser mode locked with carbon nanotubes. The observed polarization attractors on the Poincare sphere include switching between two and three SOPs, circle, semicircle, and a double scroll chaotic attractor. The underlying physics presents interplay between birefringence of the laser cavity and polarization hole burning.
