Localized structures in dissipative media

Localized structures have been observed in large variety of non-linear spatially extended systems. A considerable progress has been made in understanding the properties of non-linear localized structures of light in dissipative systems. They attract growing interest in non-linear photonics devices due to potential applications for all-optical control of light, optical storage, and information processing. I will review some of recent advance in this active field of research and show some recent results that include the control of localized structures by delay feedback.
